RSS Feed Information
In order to provide a better user experience to our visitors, we have implemented a new RSS feed to the Bob Newhart Web Site. What does this mean for you? Now you can check on the latest news from the Bob Newhart Web Site without having to actually come to the site. We have prepared a short tutorial for those who are not yet familiar with RSS.
What is RSS?
According to the website "How Stuff Works", RSS enables visitors to subscribe to news from a web site offering an RSS feed and can find out about updates without having to go to the actual web site.
Websites offering RSS Feeds can be identified by the icon in either your browser address bar or on your main toolbar; you need to be using either Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2. While both browsers are able to display the feed, Firefox implements a slicker method of displaying these feeds, through their Live Bookmarks toolbar. We suggest our visitors will receive a better user experience from the Firefox implementation, due to the shorter number of steps required to access the feeds. There are also several extensions / plug-ins for Firefox that further enhance the experience.
Firefox Users
In order to display the items in the feed after you subscribe to it, click on the entry on your Live Bookmark toolbar and a list will drop down, displaying the latest news items. Click on the item you are interested in and you will be taken directly to that page.

An additional Firefox enhancement to your RSS feed is the RSS Ticker extension. This will create a new bar at the bottom of your browser that will display all your RSS feed items, much like the scrolling ticker found on many cable news channels.
Internet Explorer Users
Internet Explorer handles subscribing to RSS Feeds a bit differently. The RSS feed indicator is located on the Internet Explorer toolbar, located next to the Home Page icon (if a page has a feed, the icon will not be greyed out. Click on the icon and the RSS feed will be added to the feed section in your Favorites Panel.

Internet Explorer requires you to open your Favorites panel, click on the "Feeds" button then select the RSS feed you are interested in, which displays a web page of all the items from that feed. Clicking on one of the links will take you to that page.
If you would like to subscribe to all Bob Newhart news on the web via Google, click this link and subscribe to the Google feed, using the same method used to subscribe to the Bob Newhart Web Site RSS feed.
We hope this information has been helpful in introducing you to the world of RSS.
